Bike day and Aiden's last day!

Valcanoes!

Today wo end our "Hawiian" week we learned about valcano's. The kids were shocked to see how much lava is able to come out of a valcano at once and that lava is made up of a really hot rock that melts.

Beach and luau week should really be call Hawaiin week. Yesterday and today everything we have talked about the kids follow up with " like in Hawaii?" Or "I saw that on a cartoon and they were in Hawaii." Today we made leis for art. Claire's parents had a few extra leis at home and were nice enough to bring them in for our luau week. They gave each child one to take home. We also learned that Aloha means hello and good bye.

This week we are learning about the beach and luau's. Today we made grass skirts and learned the traditional hula dance steps. For one of our centers the kids have to draw a number and feed that many fish to a shark.

Today is the last day for our picnic theme. We only had 5 kids today. It was nice to get one on one with the kids today. For art as a group we colored hamburgers and hotdogs and cut them out. This week those were the two foods listed as the kids favorites for a picnic. 

Watermelon is a great summer treat!
