Wilson's Apple Orchard

We had a great morning at the Apple Orchard. They taught us about Gala, macintosh and Honey crisp apples. The kids enjoyed tasting them. After we went on a tractor/ wagon ride around the farm. We saw the pumpkin patch, apple trees and got the wagon "stuck" in the creek. The kids had to yell "Go Bessie Go" to get it out. Before we left each of the kids got to walk through the orchard and pick their own apple off a tree.

 

Alphabet BINGO

Today we skipped an art project and as a group played Alphabet Bingo. The kids had fun and they also practiced the recognation of the Upper and Lower case letters.

Charley's Alphabet

This morning we were busy, busy, busy! Our book today was Charley's Alphabet. It was about a young boy who needed to see the alphabet in front of him to write the letters in his name. One of the kids favorite centers this week has been playing teachers. They have their own dry erase board, markers, pointer, letters and books. I have listened to each of them and how much they copy the way I do circle time or calendar time. It's great to know they are listening. :)

The Mixed Up Alphabet!

Today we read a book called the Mixed up Alphabet. It's about the alphabet switching its order and being randomly put together. It explained how this was confusing for children when they sang the Alphabet Song. So to tie in our art with the book (which the kids thought was so funny) we mixed up the letters on a photo of a fish bowl and they had to glue them down in order to spell their name correctly. For extra practice cutting we then cut the fish bowl out.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

This week we re reviewing the alphabet. Next week we will start with the letter A and spend each week on a different letter. So before that we are viewing all the upper and lower case letters and learning a few fun songs. Today we read the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and made our own Coconut tree's for art.
