Fire Station

Well our first field trip was a success. The Coralville Fire fighters did a great job taking us through the steps to go out on a call after the sirens went off that there was an actual fire a few blocks away. It was a little crazy and I'm not sure the kids really understood what was happening while we sat there and waited for everything to calm down. After that four fire fighters who stayed behind gave us a tour of the fire station and all of their trucks and equipment. It was a lot to take in and a few of the kids were a little scared by the whole Fire Fighter gear. When we got back to Creation Kids we had our very own fire safety drill.

Fire Safety Week

This week we are learning about fire safety. Today we went over Fire Prevention. What do do incase of a fire at school or at home. We practiced how to Stop, Drop & Roll. Today for art we made fire fighter hats. For the Dramatic Center we pretended to be fire fighters. There are red and yellow streamers hanging from the ceiling and the kids had to use a paper towel roll to blow the fire out. We are very excited to go to the Fire Station tomorrow and learn so much more from an actual fire fighter!

A Fall Snack

Today we made leaf snacks. We used a hand shape glove and filled them with colored popcorn. First we colored the popcorn red, yellow, green and orange for fall colors. Then we added chex mix to the bag for the color brown. Many of the kids had to sample the colored popcorn before they would put it in their bags. They thought since it was colored it would taste gross. They all had the same reaction. Yum it taste like butter and salt! :) When we were finished we had a little left over so we had a quick snack before we went outside. For art today we made Leaf Suncatchers!

Crazy picture day!!

Between class prictures and individual pictures. We tried to have as much of a normal day as possible. Needless to say it was a little crazy and unorganized. :) The kids all did really great adjusting to the schedule. The kids really enjoyed having Caydren's mom read them many books about Apples and Fall. We were able to get in our art project today. We made scarecrows today. They turned out so cute.
